Significance of Christmas

Christmas is observed on the 25th of December every year to celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. Some of the Armenian apostolic churches celebrate this day on 6th of January while some Armenians of Jerusalem and Holy Land celebrate it on 19th January. The actual birth of Jesus Christ is not known. The significance of Christmas is generally considered as the birth of Lord Jesus, it also symbolizes the deeply significant truth of spiritual life. There are many different traditions and ways in which Christmas is celebrated all over the world. Some people think that the day of Christmas is just the time for sharing the blessings and visiting friends and relatives showing kindness to poor and needy.
Some people believe that this is the moment not more than the time for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, while some people look towards it as a nice holiday for planning a trip, having fun, drinking, eating and marking the end of another year. All these views are not wrong, but they are even not completely true. Christmas is not just the festival representing the birth of Jesus Christ or the time for giving and taking wishes and meeting friends and relatives, but it is the time to make a reality check of oneself to see whether you have genuinely accepted the proposal of being savior of your own sins. The act of celebration should be outward flow of inner discussion and inner relationship with the Savior (God). The significance of the Christmas day is the salvation from the penalty of sins to the unsaved and the salvation from the power of sins to the saved. How is Christmas Celebrated? Candles and the Christmas tree are the main items involved in the Christmas celebration. The Christmas tree is one of the most respected Christmas traditions. Every year around 35 to 40 million live trees are purchased for the Christmas and decorated in America alone. Many people all over the world decorate the tree for the season for the absolute love of Christmas spirit. People light candles in Church and homes to lighten up the atmosphere and pray the God for blessings. People buy the Christmas tree and place it in their homes or in their compound. The Christmas tree is a pine tree. They decorate the tree with colorful lightings, decorative balls, etc. to make it attractive and beautiful. Friends and relatives gather around the tree in the evening and exchange the Christmas wishes with each other. Some people sing Christmas songs and give gifts to each other. On the Christmas Eve, the churches hold the evening services for people. At midnight, most Catholics and Protestant churches organize special candlelight services. The Christmas masses are sometime solemn and sometimes buoyant depending on the culture conducting them. Some of the worshippers enter the churches in communal parades. The churches feature the candlelight and music for the worshippers. Also, Santa Claus is the main attraction of the Christmas amongst children. Christmas is the time of renewal. It is the time when the best in humanity is called forward amid the safety of tradition. Christmas is the festival that transcends all religions and everyone comes together and celebrates this festival.
